The former Chinese Communist Party (CCP) General
Secretaries Hu Yaobang and Zhao Ziyang were removed because their minds were relatively open.
Especially the topic of Zhao Ziyang and 'June 4th'
are big taboo subjects for the authorities.
However few days ago, an old photo which has both of them
was displayed publicly by the authorities,
also Wang Yannan, the daughter of Zhao Ziyang was shown
in CCP media in a high profile photo.
Are these signals showing that the CCP will have
a huge political reform?
Let's see the opinions of Zhao Ziyang's relatives and
his former think-tank!
The HK Mingpao reported that the media center of CCP 18th
Congress opened on November 1 in Beijing Media Center.
On the second floor, the "Xinhua News Agency"
exhibits some photos which include an old picture of the CCP 12th Congress in 1982.
In it, the 85-year-old Ye Jianying was entered into the
Politburo Standing Committee,
the General Secretary Hu Yaobang stooped to talk with him,
Deng Xiaoping and Zhao Ziyang were behind them.
The rare photo of Zhao Ziyang was exposed
attracted the attention of the outside world immediately.
Wang Zhihua is the son-in-law of Zhao Ziyang,
and he is the husband of Wang Yannan.
He said that he hasn't received any information from
the authorities, but he thought the photo delivers some kind of message.
Zhao's son-in-law Wang Zhihua: "The fact the 18th Congress'
media center published this photo is at least a message."
Showing Zhao Ziyang's photo is welcomed by
Yao Jianfu, from the former think-tank of Zhao Ziyang.
Zhao's former think-tank member Yao Jianfu: "I feel that
standing on a historical point, it's normal to show their photos.
Now is the 18th Congress, it's normal to publish the photos
of each speaker. It's in line with the reality of history."
However, Yao Jianfu thought such an action doesn't mean
that the CCP will reform.
Yao Jianfu: "Respect for history is different from reform.
As for the meaning of the photo, let's analyze it after reading the report of the 18th Congress.
I will not infer it because they are two different things,
and don't have a reason-result relationship."
The "June 4th" incident has been treated as
a "minefield" by the CCP.
Zhao Ziyang sympathized with the students and
opposed the force used against the students.
But he was dismissed from all his positions inside and
outside the party and was under house arrest for 15 years until he died just because of it.
In addition, two days before the publishing of the photo,
"Beijing News" reported a full-page interview with
Zhao's Daughter, Wang Yannan in a high profile.
It used pictures, combined with texts, talked about
Wang Yannan's experience and achievement in a cultural relics auction.
But just recently on June 4th 2012, Wang Yannan
told "Voice of America" that
the injustice of "June 4th" hasn't been redressed
for 23 years, which is simply ridiculous.
She said: "every conscientious person on earth, each
Chinese knows well what 'June 4th'means; there's a barrier put up by the CCP."
She called on Hu, Wen and Xi to redress "June 4th"
as soon as possible.
The British "Financial Times" reported previously that the
CCP Prime Minister Wen Jiabao has mentioned three times
in the CCP senior officials secret meetings that
the CCP should redress "June 4th" incident.
During these days leading up to the 18th Congress,
CCP's media has released info on political reform many times.
Therefore, are all these facts a coincidence?
Or is the information being released intentionally by the highly political sensitive CCP?
Wang Zhihua: "The authorities didn't make contact with us
by any means which is very clear.
Because those things aren't transparent in China,
and everybody is guessing.
If the CCP will undertake political reform, it's not an issue of
one or two people, but a huge and very deep problem.
It certainly will have to be taken step by step.
Based on the situation you just mentioned,
it's difficult for me to judge because
I haven't heard anything from official channels."
In October, during Zhao Ziyang's 93 year anniversary,
Hong Kong media reported that the CCP's suppression of the local protests is relatively looser than usual.
But Wang Zhihua said restriction still exists.
Wang Zhihua: "It's sure that somebody wants to come
but can't, like Bao Tong. There's restriction.
It's sure that some people are not allowed to come,
especially during sensitive days like 'June 4th'anniversary, the 18th Congress, etc."
As for Hu Yaobang, the BBC reported on November 1 that
Hu Deping, the son of Hu Yaobang told a reporter of
"International Herald Tribune" that in fact, CCP is fascist.
