Example of mutualism. Ants are attracted to eat a delicious nectar secreted by the peony buds. At the same time ants are protecting peony from other insects that can harm future flower. The nature is always find the way to harmony. Ants had learned this trick from older generation and would pass it to their youth. One may call it a collective mind, but rather, it is simply a natural way for living things to learn, select, and modify it behavior in order to survive. Most of the living things who posses any sort of brain, or at least a nervous system, have an ability to mimic or copy behavior of older generation in order to keep population thrive. We humans learning from our parents. Do we do a good job? Would we survive by discarding the experiences of our ancestors? Share your comment.
