Unedited (stabilized / auto-color only) helmet cam footage of riding around the River Bends Park Mountain Bike Trails on September 13, 2011 when the system was about a year old. It's interesting to see how the trail has changed between then and now. Year-round River Bends gets way more use now, both on foot and bike, which has resulted in a good deal of trail widening and general use surface wear. The trail corridor was much narrower in 2011 than 2020.

When filmed the paved path didn't continue to Utica, instead turning to dirt two track just north of where Between The Trails Trail now starts (Marker 12), before looping back towards the trailhead. This video includes the original Blue (Seasonal Loops) route which includes water crossings in the floodplain and in a series of confusing figure eights north of where the tunnel now passes under the train tracks before heading north along the Clinton-Kalamazoo Canal.

The Dragstrip Bypass, the Between The Trails Trail, and the CK Canal Loop didn't exist in 2011 and all signage was via signs on trees (no fiberglass posts). The return to the trailhead involved riding the two track and Steep Grades Loose Gravel in reverse. The OMID (Oakland-Macomb Interceptor Drain) project which cleared a wide gravel path through the floodplain hadn't begun, so there's a much more remote feeling when riding south along the ridge.
