8.0 Naming Alkenes IUPAC | Organic Chemistry

Описание к видео 8.0 Naming Alkenes IUPAC | Organic Chemistry

Chad breaks down how to name alkenes (IUPAC) in this lesson. He begins by naming a few examples showing how we number the longest continuous carbon chain the alkene is a part of and then use the -ene suffix at the end of the name of the parent chain. Chad then shows how to predict when an alkene will be capable of cis/trans isomerism and explains the E/Z system of nomenclature, i.e. how to use E vs Z to name such alkenes following the Cahn-Ingold-Prelog rules for assigning priority. Finally, he concludes the lesson by showing how to name polyalkenes.
