Leonard Bernstein made his debut with the Boston Pops Orchestra (his first time conducting a professional orchestra) on July 11, 1941 at the Esplanade Arts & Heritage Centre, conducting Richard Wagner's Prelude to Die Meistersinger. Twenty-three years later, he conducted the piece again with the Boston Pops at the Harvard University Class of 1939's 25th Reunion Concert.
