At this point in the 1982 season Chris has played scantly, only entering the Virginia Slims of California at Oakland, where she lost for the first time to Andrea Jaeger in a tight final. In order to have another shot at Jaeger here, Chris has to work VERY hard. Evonne has points for 5-2 in the final set.

The Citizen's Cup is a transplanted, newly East-Coast version of the Clairol Crown, which Chris won in 1979 and 1981 at Carlsbad, California.
