- Small hooks (size 8-12) with long shanks.
- Small floats or bobbers.
- Small sinkers or split shots.
- Prawn bait (fresh or frozen).

2. Location:
- Find a suitable location with a high probability of prawn presence. such as estuaries. tidal creeks. or shallow coastal areas.
- Look for areas with seagrass beds. rocky bottoms. or structures like jetty pilings. as prawns often inhabit these areas.

3. Setting up the rig:
- Attach the float or bobber to the fishing line. around 1-2 feet above the hook. The float will help suspend the bait at the desired depth.
- Slide a small sinker or split shot onto the line. just above the hook. The weight will ensure the bait sinks to the desired depth quickly.

4. Baiting the hook:
- Use fresh or frozen prawns as bait. You can thread them onto the hook. starting from the tail end and pushing the hook through the body until the tip is exposed.
- Alternatively. you can remove the shell and head of the prawn. leaving only the meaty section intact. Hook the prawn through the meaty part.

5. Casting and retrieving:
- Cast the baited hook and float into the desired area. allowing it to sink to the desired depth.
- Slowly retrieve the line. keeping it taut and watching for any signs of movement or a prawn bite.
- Prawns often bite delicately. so be attentive to any subtle twitches or pulls on the line.

6. Hooking and landing:
- When you feel a bite or see movement gently lift the rod tip to set the hook in the prawn's mouth.
- Use a smooth. steady motion to reel in the prawn. avoiding any sudden jerks that could cause the prawn to escape.
- Once the prawn is close to the surface. use a net or grab it carefully with your hand to avoid any injury from the prawn's sharp rostrum.

Remember to check local fishing regulations and obtain any necessary permits or licenses before engaging in prawn fishing. Additionally. it's essential to handle prawns with care. practicing catch and release whenever possible to ensure sustainable fishing practices.
