In this video, I provide a status update on my quest to retire in Cebu, Philippines. As many of you know, I have been sharing my journey towards retiring in this beautiful province, and in this update, I'll be sharing some of my latest plans and insights with you.

I'm excited to share with you how I plan to retire in Cebu, Philippines and what steps I have taken so far to make this dream a reality. From researching the best areas to live in to understanding the cost of living, I have been working hard to ensure that my retirement years are spent in comfort and happiness.

Fallen trees - road update and life is great. This is my status update for 2022. My quest to retire in Cebu Philippines started more than twenty years ago. Yes I know that is many years of planning for retirement in Cebu. But to me planning is part of the fun. I even designed our house so it will fit me and my wife in old age. I am still too young to collect a pension so in the few years ahead I will complete the last steps to retire here in beautiful Cebu.

In the coming years I will share more of the steps I have taken to make my retirement a reality. Building a home (done), Getting new friends (done), Driver license (international - done), open bank accounts (done), make money transfer easy and cheap (done), health plans (done), hobbies (done), car purchase (done many times already and I now have plans to buy my next car already - that will be my fifth car so far in the Philippines over the last 27 years), Wife (done - and guess what - I found the perfect wife for me 😍 already 29 years ago)

Finally I am back to our home in Aloguinsan Cebu Philippines after a long time away due to the pandemic. And it is Great.

Super Typhoon Odette managed to take down all of our Mango trees, some coconut trees, most pomelo trees but spared our house. And during the storm our home was used as shelter for our family.

Now rebuilding and cleanup have started everywhere, and that explains the chainsaw you hear in the background.

In this video I started on my neighbors lot, then walked over to our side, talked to Archie's Rooster, went under the destroyed mango tree next to our house and ended up on the road I am slowly building.

I further talk about my plans for the lot going forward. Clean it up, cut down the broken trees and replant with more coconut trees and a few new fruit trees.

I also share a story of why you should take your time selecting a place to live and do not be surprised that your new neighbor sets up a hotel next door and block your beautiful ocean view.

Towards the end I also talk about my experiences meeting other foreigners in Cebu. Hint - smile more and enjoy life !
