09G Transmission Solenoid Removal and Replacement - 2007 2.5L New Beetle Valve Body Repair

My 2007 Volkswagen Beetle / Bug has an automatic transmission suffering from some harsh downshifts and extreme shift flaring. I'll share how I understood, diagnosed, and repaired it. The process involved removing the 09G transmission valve body and replacing the solenoids.
