On the anniversary of Harry Houdini’s death on October 31st 2014, UK Escape Artist Weasel Dandaw successfully escaped from the condemned cell at York Castle Prison. The world famous escapologist Harry Houdini was challenged to escape from this very cell and refused

This was an authentic recreation of the ‘Test’ condition Cell Escape method Houdini pioneered. The emphasis there is on test. Houdini developed strict criteria to be followed to ensure that lesser performers could not create an inferior spectacle. Of vital importance was that of the committee, the group that is designed to ensure ‘fair play’.

The Challenge was issued by Rebecca Taylor and Pontefract Paranormal to see if anyone could re create the work of Legendary UK Escapologist David DeVal. The only man to have escaped from the cell using the same methods as Harry Houdini.
