If you think doctors are hard working, intelligent, and caring, you're not wrong, but that's only a small part of it. Here's what they don't tell you about doctors, and the unintended consequences.

Doctors tend to be more risk averse than the average population. This makes sense, as the profession of medicine (and being a physician) is relatively safe. If you stick to the path and work hard, you'll achieve society's common definition of success.

Doctors and surgeons are also notoriously bad with money and are often prey to bad actors seeking to take advantage of their high income. Why are doctors bad with money? It comes down to a few factors - they have high amounts of debt, they're extremely busy with medical school and residency thus limiting the time they have to learn about finances, and they usually don't have jobs where they earn money until their late twenties.

Surprisingly, physician relationships are better than most expect. The overwhelming majority of physicians are in committed relationships and they mostly report their marriages as good or very good.

And finally, the grass is always greener is a human phenomenon that effects medical students, residents, and physicians just as much as anyone else.
