Are you struggling with chronic neck pain and shoulder pain? Try these shoulder blade mobility exercises for neck & shoulder pain relief 👇

In the clinic, we see a lot of neck and shoulder pain patients demonstrate a lack of proper shoulder blade or scapular control. The scapula is much more intricately related to the shoulder and neck health! If we can’t utilize our shoulder blades, the neck and shoulders will have to overcompensate leading to tight muscles, achy muscles and pain. Today, I am going to show you a simple exercise to target the shoulder blades and get relief for your neck and shoulder pain!💪🏽💯

Here’s what to do:
1️⃣- Hold both arms in front of you at about shoulder-width with a closed fist facing each other. Then, without bending the elbows, try to reach the arms forward and backward by just moving the shoulder-shoulder blade. It may be hard to connect the movement at first but be patient 😉

2️⃣- Next, try to raise the shoulder blades up and down without bending the elbows. Eventually, this will turn into a circular motion with both shoulder blades. We at the clinic call this motion the “choo choo train roll” alternate going both ways.

3️⃣- Too add some resistance, place your hands on the wall and lean into it for some resistance. Go through the same circular motion with your shoulder blades and eventually you can progress to a push-up position for more weight!

❗Please remember, you should NOT ❌feel more neck or shoulder pain while doing this exercise. If you do and have questions, please STOP the exercise and give us a call!
