After a somewhat slow start, Kobe caught fire in the second quarter by hitting 8 straight shots while silencing the hostile Philly crowd. Kobe didn't shoot well in the second half but came up with a huge leaner late in the game moments after Shaq fouled out. After an enormous corner three by Robert Horry, the Lakers would pull away with a 96-91 victory. Kobe finished with 32 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists.
