Orphan Basin (Offshore NL, Canada) Resource Assessment using Forward Stratigraphic and Basin Models

Описание к видео Orphan Basin (Offshore NL, Canada) Resource Assessment using Forward Stratigraphic and Basin Models

Beicip-Franlab presents its 6th resource assessment performed for Nalcor energy ahead of the November 2020 license round (NL20CFB01) and dealing with the central part of the Orphan basin of NL, Eastern Canada. This assessment is articulated from the understanding of the sedimentary system in an active rifted margin eventually leading to the forward stratigraphic and the petroleum system modeling. We present the main depositional system mapping in the geodynamic context and how we build DioniosFlow alternative scenario to characterize past elements deposition, including source rock deposition through an innovative methodology. The stratigraphic modeling grid is then used to feed a TemisFlow 3D basin model and a kinematic 2D petroleum system model were the maturity of the source rock level is tested. Migration and potential accumulations are then compiled to provide the resource assessment. Two dry wells are encountered within the AOI. Their understanding was a key calibration point for the model.
