Front brake pads changed on this Audi A1 1.4lt TFSI 2015 model year. This is a nice easy job which will take about an hour if you are familiar working on cars. This job will be the same on other Volkswagen group cars such as VW Golf, VW Polo, Audi A3, Seat Leon, Skoda Octavia

Firstly you will need to remove the wheel, recommend to loosen the wheel bolts before jacking up. You can turn the wheel out to help see the brakes better.

I start by removing the spring clip with a screwdriver, gently leaver it out, try not to bend it too much. once the clip is off I use a large screwdriver to leaver the caliper against the disc to push the piston back. You can do this to push the piston back all the way, but it will make it difficult to inspect the seal.

There are two bolts at the back of the caliper behind a black cap, these pop out and there's a 7mm hex bolt which you need to undo. Once these are out the caliper will be free to remove. The pad on the piston side will need to be pulled out as it has a spring clip which holds it in.

After cleaning the carrier where the pads sits, as this is where the pad slides, add a small amount of brake pad grease. not too much and always use the correct grease.

Refit the pads in the reverse order, When putting the spring clip back in, I put the clip in at the top first and then use a pair of pliers to leaver the spring clip round, over the carrier and into the hole.
