I'm hiking from the Michigan Ohio border to the Manistee National Forest on the North Country Trail (NCT) National Scenic Trail... the longest trail in America. Subscribe and #hikewithme

This is my 15th hike on the NCT and last hike of 2021 going from where I left off in my last video at the Dolan Nature Preserve hiking over 13 miles to the National NCT Headquarters in Lowell Michigan.

Most of this hike is road miles with a very small 1 mile section in the end in Lowell being on a trail. While I did not mind the road miles, the most surprising aspect of this hike was the stench from a cow farm I passed by and the lack of blue blazes where the headquarter is located. That was surprising. I had to often use my printed map to check my directions.

Beauty I found was in the farms in this area, coming up to the Grand River, and crossing I96 Freeway. If you know Michigan, coming up to I96 from the Michigan/Ohio border by foot seemed like such a big accomplishment to me and I was pretty geeked about it.

Other than that, the trail section had me pretty freaked out, maybe the most I've ever been because I could not figure out where a fresh set of man sized foot prints had come from and where the person was. It was a pretty open field yet I could not find who the footprints belonged to. Being alone in the woods, that was pretty scary and I ran some of this to get into the center of Lowell and put fear behind me.
