A 37-yard field goal by Scott Sisson with seven seconds to play gave Georgia Tech's Yellow Jackets a frantic 41-38 come-from-behind victory over the No. 1-ranked Virginia Cavaliers this afternoon that ruined Virginia's perfect season and all but ended the Cavaliers' dream of a national championship.

A 23-yard field goal by the Virginia kicker Jake McInerney with 2 minutes 34 seconds to play, which became necessary after the Cavaliers committed one penalty at the 1-yard line and another that nullified a touchdown pass, had brought the Cavaliers from behind in the fourth quarter for the first time this season.

But Sisson's kick, at the end of a 56-yard drive that required just 1:27, defeated the Cavaliers (7-1), who had won their last 13 regular-season games and had been ranked No. 1 both major news-service polls.
