How NOT To Climb Adam's Peak In Sri Lanka

In this video we set out to climb Sri Lanka’s most famous mountain called Adam’s Peak (locally known as Sri Pada) and let’s just say that it wasn’t what we expected. Climbing Adam’s Peak is a popular hike for travellers in Sri Lanka, as it offers a fantastic opportunity to see a great sunrise or sunset. Most people climbing up Adam’s Peak however are pilgrims that want to reach the temple at the top of the mountain. In the temple you can see a footprint (Sri Pada) that’s of high importance especially to Buddhists, as it’s believed to be Buddha’s footprint. As we wanted to reach the top for sunrise we had to start our hike very early in the morning at 2:00 AM, so we had an interesting 24 hours ahead of us.

We first took the train from Kandy to Hatton and from there we took a Tuk Tuk to Dalhousie to climb Adam’s Peak the next morning. After a short hike through the tea fields surrounding our guesthouse, we set out for our hike early in the morning…
