My name is Daria and I want to share with you one of the most popular poems of Alexander Blok, he became well-known author after this sad life poem. It bears no title, but is dated 10 October, 1912.

Ночь, улица, фонарь, аптека,
Бессмысленный и тусклый свет.
Живи еще хоть четверть века —
Все будет так. Исхода нет.

Умрешь — начнешь опять сначала
И повторится все, как встарь:
Ночь, ледяная рябь канала,
Аптека, улица, фонарь.

Couple words about thoughts of Alexander Blok when he was writing this one
He was deeply concerned about Lack of spiritual values and mechanicality of surrounding reality.
The world without harmony, music, it's deaf and senseless. There is no freedom , only imitation of movements’
( «ледяная рябь» - the icy rippled water).
Even death can't overcome monotony because everything repeats
(«начнешь опять сначала» - start again from the beginning).

A night, a street, a lamp, a drugstore
A meaningless and dismal light
A quarter century outpours —
It’s all the same. No chance to flight.

You’d die and rise anew, begotten.
All would repeat as ever might:
The street, the icy rippled water,
The store, the lamp, the lonely night.
