At the end of the Season 2 (Series 15) finale Wish World & The Reality War, the 15th Doctor Ncuti Gatwa sacrificed himself after meeting the 13th Doctor Jodie Whittaker to save his and Belinda Chandra's daughter Poppy. That caused him to regenerate with his last words being "Joy to the World" (referencing Steven Moffat's Christmas Special in 2024) and he leaned out his TARDIS and his regenerated into the Universe. The Doctor then turned into Billie Piper. This is very weird because Billie Piper has appeared in Dr Who before, unlike when the 14th Doctor was David Tennant, Piper has never played the Doctor but the companion Rose Tyler as well as the Bad Wolf and the Moment in the 50th anniversary. The state of Doctor Who is fully unknown, not even the BBC or Russell T Davies know. That's because Disney are likely pulling out of the Whoniverse after the UNIT spinoff The War Between The Land and The Sea is out. Gatwa left suddenly and after rewrites and more shoots the regeneration was made. The casting of Billie Piper was very sudden and not planned so there is likely no current plan for the future in Season 3 / series 16. If she isn't the Doctor then not only do we not know who or if there's a sixteenth doctor but it also means that there is no current doctor for the first time ever since the first doctor in 1963. Doctor Who's future was already uncertain with Disney+ pulling out as well as poor reception to Season One (Series 14) and the finale to Season Two (Series Fifteen). The decision to not only get rid of the fifteenth doctor but turn him into Billie Piper has not had the reaction Russell T Davies wanted as many people, including me, see it as nostalgia bait and a last ditch effort to keep the show alive and avoid another hiatus like in 1989 with Sylvestor McCoy. Although to their credit, unlike in the Wilderness years the BBC are still wanting to keep the show alive with more spinoffs and generally keeping interest in the IP but just need a partner like Netflix.

At Xmas Doctor Who had a Christmas Special Joy To The World with Anita by Steven Moffat who wrote Matt Smith’s and Peter Capaldi’s 11th Doctor & 12th Doctor. Series Fifteen has Varada Sethu as the companion, Belinda Chandra. As well as characters like Mrs Flood (Anita Dobson), and The Rani (Archie Panjabi). Series 15 starts with Lux and The Well and ends with Wish World and The Reality War with The Rani, Conrad (Jonah Hauer-King) and Omega the Mad God (From The Three Doctors & Arc of Infinity) as the Unholy Trinity. It ends with the 15th Doctor’s regeneration into Billie Piper’s 16th Doctor
