The Pipes and Drums of The Royal Corps of Signals and the Band of the Royal Regiment of Scotland, lead Balaklava Company, 5 SCOTS, on the march through the gates of Balmoral Castle Estate, ready to welcome His Majesty, King Charles III. This was on the morning of Monday 19th August 2024 as the King began his summer break in Deeside, Scotland.

Balaklava Company, 5th Battalion of the Royal Regiment of Scotland, 5 SCOTS, were under the command of Major Robert Weir and with them was the Shetland pony, Corporal Cruachan IV, mascot of The Royal Regiment of Scotland. Balaklava Company are part of the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders.

Waiting to greet his Majesty The King was Alexander (Sandy) Manson, His Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant for Aberdeenshire, and equerry to King Charles, Lieutenant Colonel Johnny Thompson, who switched to a less public-facing role last year.
