The Original short story account of the "Third Wave" - a sociological experiment conducted by a High School world history teacher. In attempting to answer the question of "how could the Germans claim not to know about the killing of the jews and how could they have let the Nazis come to power?"
first-year teacher Ron Jones conducted a week-long exercise to demonstrate how the human psyche is vulnerable to the allure of order, superiority and tribalism.

The experiment went too far.

Originally published in 1967, the story would serve as the basis for a 1981 television special, a 2008 german language movie, and a 2019 Netflix series.
