There are three basic or primary knitting elements of knitting. These are-
Needle
Cam
Sinker

Needle: Needle is 1st primary elements of knitting. There are three types of knitting Needle. These are Latch Needle, Spring Beard Needle, Compound Needle. These are classified basically on the basis of hook closing and opening. Types of knitting needle mainly depends on the technique of hook closing. There are two types of knitting. Warp knitting and weft knitting. Main function of needle is to form loop and insert old loop into new loop.

Cam: Cam is 2nd Knitting elements of knitting. Cam means which can covert rotary motion into reciprocating motion. Here knitting cam also do this. Knitting cam are three types- Knit Cam, Miss Cam, Tuck Cam. Main Function of Knitting Cam is to give motion to knitting needle.

Sinker: Sinker is the 3rd Knitting elements of knitting.

This video is a part of working principle of single jersey circular knitting machine. Here I have shown how needle move up and down, thus interloping or intermeshing is going on. That is passing the new loop to the old loop. Its also called intermeshing. The sequence start with rest position, then tuck position(tucking on the latch), clearing position, yarn feeding position, loop forming position, and knock over position.
