Lead Out! Mini Handlebar Bag Review - feat. Waterproof Zipper + Reflective Stripe + Quick Release

Handlebar bags are one of the more convenient ways of carrying extra gear on a bike. They store your essential items or snacks directly in front of your handlebar for quick and easy access. In this review, we’ll be looking at the Lead Out! Mini Handlebar bag which is a compact 1.3L handlebar bag. Lead Out! is a relatively new LA based company that was founded by cyclists to make premium products affordable. As such, the Mini Handlebar Bag has a retail price of only $40 and is available in a variety of color schemes. The bag itself is muck and water resistant with waterproof zippers and a flat mesh internal divider. A wide retro reflective strip on the exterior helps with low light visibility while the quick-release buckles make it easy to attach or remove the bag.

To make attaching the Mini Handlebar Bag easier, Lead Out! has incorporated three attachment points. On top, there are two quick release buckles that secure the bag to the handlebars. The simple plastic quick release buckles are easy to use and more secure than the typical velcro strap designs. There are also thoughtful details such as extra long strap lengths to accommodate different bikes and elastic strap retainers to hold the excess length cleanly against the bag. To prevent the bag from swaying backward or forward, there is an additional bungee cord with a removable clip that can wrap around the bike. The cord can be attached to two different loops with one more vertical for stems while the lower one is better suited for head tubes.

With its 1.3L capacity, the Lead Out! Mini Handlebar Bag is well sized for road cycling, mountain biking, or even touring. The cylindrical bag is approximately 4 inches tall and 8 inches wide which is large enough for tools, snacks, or spare parts. Lead Out! offers the bag in a variety of color schemes from the subdued navy color shown here to bright white and orange options that make a statement. Regardless of the color you choose, the bags have black zippers and a retroreflective strip along the left side. The minimalist design and solid color schemes mean the Mini Handlebar Bag even looks good on aero road bikes. Thanks to the compact size of the handlebar and adjustable mounting, the Lead Out! Mini Handlebar Bag is even compatible with single-sided out-front mounts as it can tuck underneath. One thing to note is dual sided setups don’t work with this or most handlebar bags....
