One of the most iconic buildings in Kolkata, and the whole India, is the Victoria Memorial Hall. This was built for the British Queen Victoria which never visited this place.

Victoria Memorial is worth visiting but don't expect too much and know that you cannot take photos or videos inside.

If you are staying on Sudder Street or nearby Kolkata center area you could walk to the Victoria Memorial in about 20 to 30 minutes across the Calcutta Maidan. It is a nice walk but paying attention when crossing the street :). And don'r forget to stop and try pani puri or other street foods at the small restaurants across the street from the Victoria Memorial Hall.
