Four kinds of knowing: John Vervaeke and a more grounded way to grow

Описание к видео Four kinds of knowing: John Vervaeke and a more grounded way to grow

It seems obvious that to grow/develop we will need to know things. But does knowledge always help us move forwards when we are stuck? In this video I explore an idea from John Vervaeke (cognitive science professor at University of Toronto with exceptionally rich thinking on meaning) that there are four kinds of knowing - and to really grow we need to get a grip on all four. We need to know about things (propositional knowing) and know how to do things (procedural knowing) - but we also need to know how to perceive the world (perspectival knowing) and to know our place in the world and how we relate to the world as agents (participatory knowing).

I hope you enjoy the video - do share it, subscribe, and leave any comments. I'm just starting to put these out.
