First year maiko Ryouma（凉真） dancing while Jikata Geiko Toyohisa （豊寿） plays the shamisen and sings. Both are from the district of Gion Higashi. The song is called Gion Kouta (祇園小唄), the ballad of Gion. Each stanza is about one of the four seasons and the beauty of Kyoto’s landscape; returning back the ‘chorus’ about the darai obi of maiko. It is a song that is danced by all five kagai of Kyoto but differently depending on the school of dance. Gion Higashi maiko and geiko follow the style of Fujima (藤間). The location is Gion Hatanaka Ryokan.
