Welcome, and in today’s Rome travel vlog, I’ll explore the famous castle in Rome, the Castel Sant'Angelo which is a must see in Rome Italy during your visit!

It's never a bad idea to visit a castle. Castel Sant'Angelo is a mausoleum, a fortress, a hideaway, and a museum. It has exciting stories to tell and shows you things about the Eternal City that other monuments may not.
Castel Sant'Angelo is an excellent example of how the city has changed over the centuries. Every visitor has a different experience when they go there. Some will be amazed by its treasures, while others will feel sad about how many lives were lost in battle in the same place. No matter what the experience is, it is one worth having.

Castel Sant'Angelo was built between 123 and 139 AD to be the tomb of the Roman emperor Hadrian and his family. In the 1400s, Castel Sant'Angelo became a military fortress connected to the Vatican by "Passetto di Borgo," an elevated passageway that still exists today. It was later turned into a prison, where prisoners were left to die of hunger and executions were held.

In 1901, it was turned into a rich museum with relics of its troubled past. Its golden lights now illuminate the skyline of Rome, and it is a popular tourist attraction.

The luxuriously decorated papal apartments are worth the trip, and you won't regret paying the entrance fee when you step out of the castle and are left speechless by the views of Rome.
