Random letters for real emotions.
From the moment I heard those three words – "You have cancer" – my world shifted. This video is my raw and honest story, chronicling the emotional rollercoaster, the physical challenges, and the unexpected moments of hope and strength I've experienced since that life-altering diagnosis. Join me as I share the turning points, the lessons learned, and how I've navigated this path to where I am today. It's a journey of resilience, self-discovery, and finding light even in the darkest of times. I hope my story can offer comfort, understanding, and inspiration to anyone facing their own battles.
I love to tell stories and these are some of mine which I hope you enjoy.
People told me about the dreaded "sniper alley" when I was 54 and feeling great. Towards the end of 2024, this feeling changed to a feeling of extreme gut pain, sluggishness and few bouts of combined diarrhea and vomiting and , once, losing consciousness mid "flow". In January 2025, I was admitted to hospital for my first ever overnight stay and a labroscopy. Bascially, after a decent 8 hour wait, I was wheeled to a bright white room and my stomach was opened up and I was operated on. It was unnerving and calming at the same time. Fast forward through lots of blood tests, colonoscopy, gastroscopy, another colonscopy and an MRI in early June 2025, detected a tumour on my pancreas. A subsequent biopsy in late June, has concluded I now have pancreatic cancer as I write this. How are you feeling is the inevtiable question my friends and family are asking me as well as "what can I do", " do you want to talk", etc. I am feeling sad, confused, lonely but not alone. We always called cancer the big "C" in Ireland as kids and later in life because we did not want to name the illness. I've lost friends and family to cancer and I don't want to lose me.If I do, I want to help others before I sign off.
