Policing London's Biggest Concerts: How the Met Police Keeps Women Safe in London


Follow along as the Metropolitan Police launch a major summer operation to step up security to protect over 3 million people attending 51 large-scale concerts across London. This is an unfiltered look at how police work at scale - engaging, protecting and rebuilding trust with the public, while navigating the energy and chaos of music events.

Specialist VAWG officers were out on proactive patrol for Dua Lipa's concert at Wembley Stadium, where over 140,000 fans attended across two sold-out nights. With over 5,000 officer shifts planned this summer, this initiative is focused on keeping women and girls safe - and targeting predatory behaviour before any serious incident escalates.

These officers are trained to identify signs of sexual assaults, stalking or harassment, intervene fast, tackle and arrest offenders in the crowd, prevent harm and support victims.

The Met is also investing in new tools and approaches:
Rapid Video Response pilots to improve victim engagement;
Stalking Threat Assessment Centre to assess and manage risks;
Enhanced training for frontline officers to strengthen the initial police response;
Public protection roles across the force to enhance our domestic abuse, rape and sexual offence investigation team to enable a better service for victims;
Use of Live Facial Recognition (LFR) to locate those wanted for offences and those subject to court orders, including sexual harm prevention orders.
