6.3 The Kinetics of Organic Reactions | Organic Chemistry

Описание к видео 6.3 The Kinetics of Organic Reactions | Organic Chemistry

Chad provides an overview of the kinetics of organic reactions. Much of the lesson is really a review of kinetics from general chemistry with a focus on the aspects relevant to organic chemistry. Chad begins by covering rate laws, reactant orders, and reaction orders and how they are related to the molecularity of the rate-determining step in a reaction. He then moves on to a discussion of rate constants and their relationship between both temperature and activation energy. Chad then presents the Hammond postulate and shows how to draw transition states in organic reactions by representing the bonds being broken or formed as partial bonds. Finally, Chad reviews catalysts and reminds students of the 6 key characteristics of any catalyst.
