In 2022, Hurricane Ian made landfall on Florida’s coast, causing 149 fatalities and $112 billion in damage. FEMA’s Building Science Disaster Support Program deployed a Mitigation Assessment Team that visited the area to assess the numerous successes and failures observable in the built environment. During their visit, they stopped at Babcock Ranch. This video showcases how this community was developed with resilience in mind. The statements made in this video do not reflect the views of FEMA.
