The Supreme Council for Shari'ah in Nigeria, Oyo State chapter, planned to inaugurate a Sharia Court in Oyo State in January. The announcement triggered a backlash. It forced the Supreme Council to postpone the inauguration of the court. Coming when a banner proclaiming that "Jesus is not God" outside a mosque in Lekki, Lagos, triggered a social media-fueled controversy. And in Kwara State, Islamic activists brought down a billboard by a lawmaker wishing his constituents a Merry Christmas.
