January 30th 1944 - After the successes of 1943, the 3rd and 4th Ukrainian fronts aim to consolidate their gains by clearing the left bank of the Dnieper of any German presence, particularly around Lepetikha. The 3rd Ukrainian Front's mission was to liberate Krivoy Rog and thus pave the way for the liberation of central and western Ukraine. Mud will be a problem to break through, and Soviet commanders will have to be careful with troop deployment to get there on time. The command will attempt an encircling manoeuvre around Nikopol to isolate and destroy as many German units as possible.
