Greetings. I'm Tim of Govberg, and welcome to the world of Hublot. Today, I'll be your guide to the Hublot Classic Fusion Chronograph, Titanium on Bracelet. This 45 millimeter automatic-winding classic fusion chronograph is best explored by starting on the outside and working our way in.
While Hublot is renowned for its super straps, Hublot also makes superb bracelets, and, relatively rare within the Hublot catalog, they're an exclusive treat for the connoisseur who wants something a little bit more modernist, a little bit more mechanical, more of an industrial aesthetic. That's precisely what you get with this titanium bracelet, featuring alternately polished flanks and satin or brush-finished center links. Substantial in size, it's also wieldy and light thanks to the use of the famed gray metal, in contrasting finish, with a substantial twin-trigger deploying clasp. The twin-trigger action means that you must positively disengage and open the clasp. It's not vulnerable to flying open as can a friction fit. This is the higher-grade way of closing a clasp, and yet, when closed, it has a supremely low profile for protection against accidental desk diving.
The bracelet leads us to a case that features Hublot's signature materials fusion, wherein a sapphire crystal gives way to a titanium bezel, and a resin bezel gasket. The watch features a sensuous, high-polish case flank with compound curves that blend into the lugs and give way to a rounded, partially polished bezel, polished on its flanks, satin finished on its tops, framing a dial that is simplicity incarnate, featuring the classical twin register imagery of great 20th century mid-century chronographs. The Hublot Classic Fusion is precisely that: classic and a fusion of vintage and contemporary design cues.
The size is exceptionally contemporary. A 45 millimeter case allows the dial to be widened, broadened, to allow the features to breathe. The polished indices provide a superb contrast against the matte black backdrop, as the twin registers, constant seconds at three o'clock, chronograph minutes at nine o'clock, chart the passage of time. The watch also features a discreet jump date at six o'clock for easy reference to this practical information.
On the case back, we gain easy visual access to the Hublot Automatic Chronograph Caliber. Now, this is Hublot Caliber 1143, with a 42-hour power reserve, automatic winding, 50 meter water resistance with the crowns in place, and of course, a smooth chronograph action. There's a quick set for the date, and a hacking seconds function, so when you pull the crown, it does stop the balance, allowing precise synchronization to a known accurate reference time.
Hublot on a bracelet is a rare treat, and this model, featuring exceptional metallic coherence, has a air of avant-garde about it, combining a full titanium case with the famed gray metal in differential polish.
