Vocational education and training is a key instrument liaising education, work and social and economic development. Its main purpose is to ease young people and adults’ employment opportunities and lifelong learning.

Since 2015, the Embassy of Norway has supported ECLAC’s Divisions of Social Development, Gender Affairs and Economic Development work on this subject with a regional perspective. Over this period, more than a dozen analytical studies have been published and technical assistance was carried out in six countries of Latin America and the Caribbean. Moreover, policy debate has been promoted through seminars and workshops and participating in various discussion forums.

This video illustrates the main recommendations and results of this effort to strengthen this type of education to move towards an inclusive development that tackles social and gender inequalities, eliminates poverty and consolidates economic, social and cultural rights in all of the region.
