In this video, we start off by discussing search intent and show you the differences between informational queries and transactional and local queries. This is an essential first step, since understanding the user intent helps you make better decisions about which keywords to target.

We then move onto the local pack, also called the snack pack, and Google 3-pack. Getting ranked on the local pack will help you immensely with your local SEO efforts. The information displayed in the 3-pack is fetched from your Google My Business profile, so the first thing you need to do as a local business is to claim your Google My Business Profile. Make sure that your GMB profile is as up-to-date and accurate as possible to improve your clickthrough rates.

The third step is getting citations in local directories, which not only give you a boost in rankings in your regular search results but they also increase your chances of featuring in the local pack. In this video, we’ve listed our favorite data aggregation softwares that allow you to publish your business info on multiple directories in one go.

Reviews are critically important. After all, 88% of consumers trust online reviews as much as personal recommendations. So try to get as many positive reviews as you can as that can boost your rankings in the local pack. In this video, we share a few do’s and don’ts when it comes to soliciting reviews from customers.

Things get a bit more technical as we move onto step 5: Schema Markups. We show you how to deploy different schemas, such as the Local Business Schema Markup, which helps Google better understand your business profile, and also lets you stand out from the crowd by showing off your reviews in an attractive manner.

We also discuss on-page and off-page optimization techniques that can help you rank higher for local searches. We talk about when and where to use local landing pages, and how to use the right keywords, NAP info, meta titles, and headings to improve your local rankings.

This video wraps up by showing you how to use off-page SEO for local optimization. When it comes to off-page SEO, backlinks are the name of the game. Earning quality backlinks, in general, will give a boost to everything, including your local SEO efforts. We share the benchmarks you should use when shortlisting the websites and publications you’ll want to get backlinks from. And our final advice: get mentions and publishing guest blogs more for the brand awareness, visibility, and eyeballs – rather than the link juice. So super local content on high authority websites should be your main aim.
