This is a video log of Lee Hazen's experience in air combat in WW2. His plane was a B17G, tail number 297547, nicknamed "Little Lambsy Divy". Lee was assigned as Flight Engineer, 15th Air Force, 5th Bomb Wing, 463rd Bombardment Group, 772nd Bomb Squadron. His squadron took off at 0600 on 10 May, 1944 from Celone Airfield in Foggia, Italy. The mission that day was to bomb an aircraft factory in Wiener-Neustadt, Austria. From Lee's recollection, 32 bombers were sent out that day. We lost 8 bombers (including his). Within his crew of 9 airmen, 5 were captured and 4 evaded capture. Lee Hazen is my Uncle. We sat down for this interview on Thursday, April 5, 2012.
