Do laundry pods create microplastics? No, they do not.

Over the last year, I spent an enormous amount of time digging through petitions, papers, and research to sort out this PVA (material used for laundry pods) discussion. I did my absolute best to try and stay as unbiased as possible and let the researchers do the talking.

Based on the information provided by people much smarter than me, I do not believe PVA creates microplastics as we currently define them. PVA breaks down into its original atomic components quite quickly especially when waste water passes through a WTTP (wastewater treatment plant).

To me, it looks like we really need to focus on the packaging our products come in, rather than the synthetic film that holds pods together.
