Poetic Elements 5: PAN AM

Описание к видео Poetic Elements 5: PAN AM

Welcome back to the original Spaceship Frost! In this episode, I reprise my Root poem that I submitted earlier this week, but I add on an extra coda for the information about the Kickstarter that we didn't know at the time of its writing.

If you're wondering why I shot this at such a bad hour, I do go over it in the video, but the 10-cent version was to celebrate the first day of the new expansion on Kickstarter as well as to give myself a break from long-distance night driving to get a Covid vaccine. You know, you're regular garden variety win-win.

This is a weekly challenge for myself, to use the medium of poetry to convey my love for board games... particularly the ones that require at least two humans to play (and in whichever style of poetry fits the bill for that game). I talk a LOT about solo games on this channel, but honestly, just like many of you, I'm really starved for get those multiplayer games off my shelves in the After Times, while meanwhile really enjoying the great two player experiences out there with my wife (when the kiddos allow for such indulgences).

Enjoy!

If you're really in a hurry for the poem:
0:00 - Title card & pre-poem
2:35 - PAN AM (text below)
3:56 - Post-poem chat about the game and the spaceship
8:13 - Going for a run at the bluff & signoff

Ding - now boarding; It’s trimotor time!
And the handful of people check in
world is wide,
show your pride
in your company’s new ride
Don’t fly too far though, or you’ll swim

Ding - now boarding; it’s clipper time!
And the line begins to form
Your airports haven’t spread
So claim routes instead
There’s riches ahead
As you buy planes to add to the swarm

Ding - now boarding; it’s cruiser time!
Hold your tickets in the air
As larger planes are flying
And gravity defying
Pan Am is buying
Not sure how much we’ll have for our heir…

Ding - now boarding; it’s jet time!
The biggest planes now join our flock
While our routes are impressive
And our strategies progressive
Pan Am’s earnings are excessive
And I’m liquidating assets for their stock

Ding - now closing; it’s Pan Am time!
When you can’t beat em join em’s the call
We put up a fight
Pioneered cheap flight
But our end was in sight
It is Pan Am’s name on the box, after all
