Описание к видео SPRING EQUINOX 2025

This film is a recap or follow-up of our 'Spring Equinox 2025' event. This was the 7th consecutive event that we celebrated at the Old Stone House [post Covid epidemic]. The previous events were held before the Covid-19 epidemic. This was our 93rd event!

The event began with an art workshop that was inspired by work by Paul Klee, the prolific early 20th century Swiss artist. This was followed by a drum circle that developed from various rhythmic motifs, and played with the idea of juxtaposing a simple pulse-like motif [played on drums] along with various instruments [such as Tibetan bells, rainsticks, agogo bells, and several others]. I labeled this Rhythm/Beyond Rhythm. This was followed by a dinner which had many Bulgarian, Armenian, and other dishes as well!.

Next, was our music concert, which featured works which I had composed and performed for various Native flutes [honoring the 4 Directions], Mayan Water Whistles, and Classical guitar. Ginny Atherton accompanied the various Native flutes with a variety of percussion instruments. She also performed a work entitled "Totem," for flute and guitar. There was also a work entitled "Five," which was a gathering of earlier works which I then arranged for guitar and cello. The cellist was Barbara Aran.

The concert was followed by a reading of Sonnet #116, written by William Shakespeare. Bogdan Atanasov did the reading with his impressive voice and subtle interpretation of a masterfully written poem.

This film/video does not encompass the entire program but excerpts only.
