1987 RetroSkins Highlights: Washington Redskins vs Minnesota Vikings

Forgive me for saying so, but the 1987 Washington Redskins were champions who, by all logic, should not have been. C'mon... a team with a season-long quarterback controversy, a star running back failing to produce, and a kicker unreliable outside 30-yards is not championship material… unless your coach is Joe Gibbs. In this season finale thriller from the Metrodome, the Redskins overcame all of it, silencing the roar of that Gjallarhorn-blowing Viking crowd and aaaaaaallllmost eliminated Minnesota from the ’87 playoff chase. (Say... what ever happened to that '87 Vikings team, I wonder.)

Doug Williams took the starting reigns from Jay Schroeder for good, hitting Ricky Sanders (subbing in as starter for the injured Art Monk) on clutch second-half plays again and again as the Redskins defeated the down-but-not-quite-out Minnesota Vikings – setting the stage for a gritty Super Bowl run that was pure Gibbs magic.

Remastered to 1080p from an original VHS recording just for you, 80’s Redskins fans. I must say, this transfer is one of my finer efforts – please enjoy!
