Stretching between Avebury in the west and Ivinghoe Beacon in the east, The Ridgeway National Trail lays claim to being the oldest road in Britain. At 87 miles in length, it offers the walker an opportunity to step back in time and follow in the footsteps of folk from long ago.
As an avid walker, I love long distance trails so I recruited a friend and we completed The Ridgeway over seven days overnighting at pubs along the route and using a baggage transfer service (after all we are pensioners!).
I used the Cicerone guide together with the OS mapping app to keep us on track.
