This has been written because the 1st thing always asked is "what drugs cause this?"
There are 3 hallucinogenic drug classes.
Deliriants
Psychedelics
Dissociatives

This is a replication of the anticholinergic deliriant drug class, which consists of drugs like DPH or datura, etc.

They can cause true hallucinations, meaning the hallucinations cannot be differentiated from reality. The hallucinations are often disturbing in content, strange or mundane, covering themes like spiders, talking to people that do not exist, or performing day to day actions (scrolling the phone, smoking cigarettes, combing your hair etc.)

Physical Side Effects of Deliriants:
Tachycardia
Pupil Dilation
Fever
Drying of mucous membranes
Inability to urinate AND increased urination
Dehydration

Cognitive Side Effects of Deliriants Can Include:
Dissociation
Delirium
Psychosis
Depression
Confusion
Paranoia
Hallucinations

After Effects of Deliriants Can Include:
Psychotic Symptoms
HPPD
PTSD
Memory loss
Dissociation
Brain Fog
Anticholinergic drugs have also been linked to dementia.

Reasons People Use Deliriants:
Escapism
Lack of availability of other drugs
Self harm
Curiosity
Impulsiveness
Addiction

I have very limited experience with deliriants (one 100mg DPH experience), but have experienced sleep paralysis more times than I'd like. Both serve as major inspirations. I hope to help people realize that these states can be explored without the use of drugs, especially in the case of something that can be as dangerous as deliriants.
