Session 7 exegetes Topic 2 of 2 topics of unit point C in Hebrews 3:1-4:13. Session 7 continues the speaker’s exhortation to his audience for sharing with Christ in ministry about the so great salvation that enables access by faith into God's rest in heaven. The listeners are encouraged to obediently in their ministry follow after the example of Jesus and Moses, rather than that of the unfaithful example of Israel.
Unit point C Topic 2 in Hebrews 4:1-13 has a unit introduction in Hebrews 4:1-5. In the light of their temptation, he challenges them to fear being the proper example in their confession of Jesus's ministry, rather than an example that falls away in unbelief. After this introduction, the author has two subpoints before the unit conclusion in Hebrews 4:11-13. He first asserts that God's place of rest mentioned by David still remains available. He clarifies that the rest is conditional upon Jesus's provision on "another day." He is a capable judge to discern the thoughts and intension of the believer's heart until the division of soul and spirit and joints and morrow, which refers to death and transformation to spirit life.
Audience questions continue traditional views away from God's faithfulness in his promises toward understanding Israel's unbelief with possible implication toward either loss of their salvation or evidence that they had never called on the Lord for their salvation.
