Kedarnath Temple Closing Ceremony
The Kedarnath Temple closing ceremony marks the end of the annual pilgrimage season in the holy shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva. Usually held in October or November, the date is decided every year according to the Hindu Panchang on the occasion of Bhai Dooj.

On the closing day, the temple is beautifully decorated with flowers and lights, and thousands of devotees gather to witness the divine rituals. The idol of Lord Kedarnath (Utsav Doli) is ceremoniously moved from the main shrine to Omkareshwar Temple, Ukhimath, where it is worshipped during the winter months.

The event begins with special morning pujas, Rudrabhishek, and chanting of Vedic mantras, filling the air with spiritual energy. Amid traditional music, chants of “Har Har Mahadev” echo through the Himalayas, symbolizing devotion and farewell until the next summer when the temple reopens.
