Описание к видео How to Avalanche At Home - Maintaining Your Node

End to end tutorial on how you can go upgrade your existing node (I show both building from source as well as download a pre-compiled binary from the Ava-labs releases page), backing up the necessary files for safety as well as enabling your node software to run as a system service so that it starts automatically when you restart your device (or in case it crashes!).

Once you have your node up (if you don't know how to install and launch a node, watch the other videos first), maintaining is really simple. You will need to occasionally upgrade as new features are rolled out and that's really it. Once you reach this level in your learning journey, experience really improves where you can restart your device and forget about it!!!!

I cover:
1) How to upgrade if you originally built from source code
2) How to upgrade if you installed your node as a pre-built binary
3) How to do a local backup of the key staking files
4) How to do a remote backup of the key staking files
5) How to create a system service definition for AvalancheGo
6) How to enable the system service
7) How to start / stop and check the status of your node if you ever need to

System Service Sample Configuration (make sure to change the paths correctly!):

[Unit]
Description=AvalancheGo systemd service.
StartLimitIntervalSec=0
[Service]
Type=simple
User=ubuntu
ExecStart=/home/ubuntu/avalanchego/avalanchego --plugin-dir=/home/ubuntu/avalanchego/plugins --dynamic-public-ip ifconfig
Restart=always
RestartSec=1
[Install]
WantedBy=multi-user.target

Additional included tips & tricks:
Ensuring the node doesn't shut down after exiting shell if launched manually:
nohup ./avalanchego --dynamic-public-ip ifconfig &

Checking history to copy / paste previously used commands (For example launching node):
history | grep "avalanchego"

Tailing log or console output easily (For example, last commands related to Avalanche go):
history | grep "avalanchego" | tail -10

All the points made about Avalanche as well as the hardware I'm using are purely my personal opinions and do not constitute investment advice! Please do your own due diligence if you are looking for investment advice!

If you'd like to see details of how to launch a node, feel free to check out my other tutorials! If you decide you don't want to run your own node, please consider delegating as a way to contribute to the network. If you ultimately decide to delegate, any of the founder nodes, my node or any node that you know is managed well should work!
