Meeting with the architect behind the Biodôme's Migration project

"We want to better showcase the ecosystems and ultimately offer visitors a more moving experience. This is what the main lobby currently looks like. We want to open it up all the way to the roof, so we can see the skylights.
Visitors will be able to take different pathways to reach this point. This setup allows them to see what's going on behind the scenes and understand how it all comes together: the air, water and lights. New walkways will straddle each ecosystem. We are also revamping the sub-polar region.
This wall curves around each ecosystem and accompanies visitors along the many pathways. Whenever we open up a section or view, we encapsulate it with this wall, thus making it easier for people to move around.
This project is so much more than a simple makeover, more than just re-arranging the pathways. The challenge of this architecture competition was to reconnect humans and nature.
Our goal is to make a lasting impact on the people who come to the Biodôme. How will they feel after their visit? Might their behaviour change? Will they become more aware of nature? We certainly hope so."
