TORNADOES & DAMAGING WINDS POSSIBLE LATER TODAY; LEVEL 3 (OUT OF 5) RISK... All severe weather hazards, including a few strong tornadoes, will be possible later today across south Alabama and northwest Florida. The Storm Prediction Center has included ALL parts of our local area in their Level 3 (out of 5) enhanced severe weather risk zone. This means that scattered to numerous severe thunderstorms are likely. Some of the tornadoes that happen today may be strong (EF2+) or long-tracked, particularly in parts of southeast Mississippi and southwest Alabama. Please have a way to hear warnings today into tonight!

UPDATED: SEVERE WEATHER TIMING - TODAY INTO TONIGHT... Isolated strong to severe thunderstorms will be possible over the next several hours through 2PM. While the overall risk for any one community having severe weather issues between this morning and 2PM is rather low, the risk is not zero. Please have a way to hear warnings over the next 24 hours! 2PM today to 2AM Thursday continues to be the 12 hour window when strong to severe thunderstorms are most likely to happen across southwest Alabama and northwest Florida and when the overall risk of strong tornadoes will be maximized. Again, please have a way to hear warnings over the next 24 hours!

STORMS TO CLEAR OUT EARLY THURSDAY; MUCH COOLER AIR ARRIVES... Showers and thunderstorms will clear out of our local area to the east by 6AM on Thursday morning. Much cooler air will surge into our region from the northwest behind an advancing cold front. High temperatures on Thursday will be in the mid-60s.

COLD, MOSTLY SUNNY WEEKEND AHEAD... High temperatures will drop into the 50s this weekend with overnight lows in the mid-30s. Other than a few passing clouds on Saturday (with a very low chance of rain), mostly sunny skies are expected Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

VERY COLD AIR TO ARRIVE AROUND CHRISTMAS DAY... We're looking out into the model trends beyond 7 days and we continue to see signs of a potentially very cold airmass moving into our local area around Christmas Day. It is impossible to be specific at this point, but there is a very high chance Christmas Eve and Christmas Day will be quite cold with highs only in the 40s and 50s.
