Mastershot Films was hired to light a video commercial last week at Dakota Studio in NYC. The actor in the white lab coat would hold up his hands in and wave them around, pushing graphics and texts around the screen (to be comped in later in post-production.) We lit our background & subject with a combination of our Kino Flo flights, Astra 1x1 Litepanels, and 800w Joker HMI's. We also softened all of our lights with diffusion frames and screens.

Dakota Studio was a wonderful location to shoot this piece- they had a medium-sized white cyc, perfect for a full-body shot of the actor, and more than enough room for us to place our lights, stands, and diffusion frames. The studio is ideal on a number of levels:

-Clean and client-worthy
Easy to load-in equipment & props from the street- they provide each production with rolling hampers
They have excellent distro box for plugging in high-powered video lights
an adjacent studio which is perfect for HMU station and comfortable client seating
multi-colored seamless paper selection for different colored backgrounds
Grip equipment (stands, v-flats, bounce boards, etc.)
Fully functioning kitchen for crafty and can accomodate cooking-show shoots.
-Full black-out curtains to control lighting
Elegant bathroom set for beauty-product shoots
